Hey everyone. I'm making this so we can all introduce ourselves. If you can, please tell us what made you love horror and if applicable, what your favorite horror movie/story/book etc is. :)

I'm BeeVee (yes "Hi BeeVee" would be a great response here ;) ) and I will tell you how I got into horror. First I will state that as a kid I was terrified of many scary things. I remember going to Pizza Hut when they had those crane toy machines and my dad thought it would be hilarious to win a Chucky doll when I was like 6. Guess what happened? I cried my eyes out and was terrified. To this day, I can't watch a Chucky movie without having nightmares. This is coming from someone who watches horror movies all the time now though...Scars from my childhood are still there.

Also, remember Crypt Keeper? Yeah...not something for a child to see. I remember walking into the living room one night and my dad was watching Tales from the Crypt and I saw the Crypt Keeper cackling and I screamed and ran to my parents room. He doesn't scare me anymore, but I admit he creeps me out a bit if I ever see him cackling.

So what turned me around? Probably around 2002 when EVERYONE was talking about The Ring and I, at 12 years old, somehow got a hold of it and watched it. I sat there throughout the whole movie waiting to be scared shitless and I remember jumping at only one scene. "THIS is the movie everyone is scared of?" I thought to myself. I remember also watching M. Night Shyamalan's Signs and, although not really scared, did remember jumping during one scene.

Now I will admit, since that time all the way through high school I barely watched horror. I was busy with school and didn't watch much tv in general until maybe senior year. I don't think I started watching the Saw movies until college. However, around a month after I graduated high school I decided to test myself (because I'm strange) and watch the most disturbing and horrifying movies I could find. So I did that for a lot of the summer before I started college. This is probably the reason why I don't find many horror movies scary, but I love them regardless.

Another random anecdote: remember the movie The Unborn? I went to watch it with a few friends. I was excited and while my friends jumped and screamed, I sat there very amused and laughing. My friends thought I was weird for not getting scared, I guess.

Again, once I started college I kinda stopped watching a lot of horror and disturbing movies, although I watched it more than I did when I was in high school. Towards the end I had Netflix and was able to watch some things. Now that I've been out of school for 2 years, I go off and on on my horror movie kicks. I enjoy B-horror movies quite a bit.

I believe one reason why I like horror so much is the thrill of watching it and wanting to know what will happen next. It is an awesome adrenaline rush for me. I also find many of them to be more entertaining than scary (at least many mainstream and American ones) and I enjoy seeing stories unfold, especially when the plot is pretty decent.

So your intro doesn't have to be as long as mine, but I thought I'd give you my backstory and why I wanted to make this blog. Thanks so much for helping me get this started!

EDIT: Forgot to mention what my favorite things were. So I have to say I really liked the movie Sinister. Something about that movie really got to me and I feel it was a good movie. Evil Dead (the original, not the funny re-make of last year) also scared the shit out of me but I didn't realize that it did until I went to sleep that night (that happens to me sometimes, I get too cocky).

I haven't read much horror to be honest so I can't speak to books or stories. Also, I love H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator movie as it's just complete awesomeness lol. Recently, I watched Creepshow 1 and 2 on Netflix and liked those, although the 1st one was a lot better. So yeah those are just a few I am thinking of off the top of my head!
